VitalActiv® is specially formulated to provide optimum micronutrient support after bariatric surgery. Nutritional deficits are common in pre- and post-surgical bariatric patients. Poor dietary habits and commonly used medications can lead to nutrient inadequacies and compromise successful postoperative outcomes. After weight loss surgery, patients have unique lifetime nutritional needs as a result of altering the gastrointestinal system. Restrictive procedures reduce stomach capacity resulting in a severely restricted diet, food intolerances, and rapid weight loss. Malabsorptive procedures reroute food, bypassing the stomach and a variable portion of the proximal small intestine, the primary site for nutrient absorption.
